Divorce and Dissolution

Divorce and Dissolution

We understand that divorce and dissolution are never easy. At Davey Law we aim to make the divorce process as simple and painless as possible for you; each case is handled with skill and sensitivity.

Divorce or dissolution does not have to be complicated and it is not usually necessary to attend court.

In order to obtain a divorce or dissolution it is necessary for you to have been married for at least one year.

Currently there is no such thing as a “no fault” divorce or dissolution and you will need to prove one of the specified facts, to show that your relationship has irretrievably broken down.

Generally the process will take a minimum of five months but we would ordinarily advise that the final Decree should not be obtained until such time as the parties’ financial situation has been resolved. The reason for this is that upon the final Decree a person’s rights to some financial assets may be lost.

Our family lawyers Micheal and Julie are able to advise you on all issues interlinked with divorce and dissolution to include finances and children. Often the issues of children and finances will need to be looked at together as one can impact the other. We are able to offer a fixed fee for obtaining a divorce or dissolution in some circumstances.
