The Cotswold Show in Review by Davey Law in Cirencester

This weekend saw the return of one of the largest events in the Cirencester calendar, The Cotswold Show. Hosted by Lord Bathurst at the Bathurst Estate, the Cotswold Show celebrates the very best of what makes the Cotswolds so characteristic.

This year, Davey Law had the pleasure of being one of the main sponsors, and auctioned our hospitality tickets at a charity fundraising event. We caught up with our competition winner Dave Kingscott, Managing Director of The Local Answer, who told us about his, and his wife Helen’s experience at the 2019 Cotswold Show:

“At The Local Answer I’m usually involved in presenting competitions to our readers, not entering them myself – let alone winning one! Consequently, it was a lovely surprise to hear my ticket had been drawn by Davey Law to attend the Cotswold Show.

We thoroughly enjoyed our seats adjacent to the main arena, a scrumptious lunch and drinks served throughout the day. Equally, the welcome and service from Jackie, Victoria and the rest of the team in the Patrons marquee was excellent – we were able to totally relax.

Wandering around the show was a joy – seeing events in smaller arenas, checking out the crafts and produce stalls, and saying hello to all the animals in their pens and enclosures. We also visited the Cookery Theatre that Davey Law sponsored, there was a fascinating talk by a lady about her combination of cake and art.

The shows in the main arena ranged from great fun to awesome – from the Dog and Duck Show to the Harvesting in Action. The equine variety displayed through the Scurry & Trials Driving, Heavy Horses, Action Horses and Shire Horses was terrific, with my personal favourite being the Peregrine Falcon swooping at 100mph through the legs of the beautiful Black Stallion.

We enjoyed meeting a couple of celebrities, and what really tipped the day off for us was how welcome we were made to feel by Lord Bathurst. He was so engaging and chatted with us several times throughout the day – a top man!

Again, many thanks to you, Ann and the team at Davey Law for the opportunity to win such a great prize!”

Well, Dave certainly can paint quite a picture can’t he? We’re thrilled to hear that he and Helen had such a wonderful day! We’re already counting down the days until next year’s Cotswold Show rolls into town, and very much hope to be involved once again!
